Role Summary
As one of the first hires in a newly formed Finance & Accounting shared services team based in Atlanta, the
Controller
will play a foundational role in building and scaling the finance function to support ongoing M&A activity and organizational growth. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial infrastructure of a dynamic, private equity-backed company.
The Controller will lead the development of accounting systems, financial reporting processes, and internal controls, while also managing banking relationships, cash flow, and compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a strategic thinker with a builder's mindset and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable accounting systems, policies, and internal controls. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance. Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and treasury operations. Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team. Partner with leadership to develop budgeting, forecasting, and KPI frameworks. Support financial due diligence and integration of acquired entities. Provide strategic financial insights to executive leadership and private equity sponsors. Key Requirements Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including leadership roles. Prior experience in a private equity-backed company and service-based or project-driven industry. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial systems implementation, and treasury management. Proven success in acquisition integration and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting. CPA required; MBA preferred. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems is a plus.
