Job Title: Assistant Director of Financial Aid Department: Student Financial Services Reports To: Director of Financial Aid Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt, On-site (Hybrid) Location: Cambridge, MA Salary Range: $70,000-$78,000
Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Financial Aid plays a key student-facing role in supporting the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office. This position ensures the effective delivery of financial aid services, including advising students on aid options, processing applications, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to help students navigate the financial aid process successfully.
Key Responsibilities: • Provide direct support and counseling to students and families regarding financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid awards, and financial planning. • Review and process financial aid applications in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies. • Utilize the Regent Education financial aid management system for processing aid and maintaining accurate records. • Assist in the packaging, awarding, and reconciliation of student financial aid. • Collaborate with the Director to identify process improvements and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations. • Support outreach initiatives such as financial aid workshops, orientations, and webinars. • Maintain knowledge of current federal and state regulations and institutional policies affecting financial aid. • Provide support in audits and reporting processes as needed.
Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. • 1-3 years of professional experience in a financial aid or student services role. • Prior experience working in a higher education setting with diverse student populations. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to excellent customer service. • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and policies. • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications: • 3-5 years of professional experience in financial aid administration. • Demonstrated experience using Regent Education (Regent Award) and other Department of Education systems, including NSLDS, COD, FSA Partner Connect and/or the FAFSA Partner Portal • Familiarity with VA educational benefits and related processing requirements, or experience with the VA Enrollment Management certification system • Experience with data reporting and reconciliation tasks,
