Engineering Technician

Period of Performance:
04 January 2026 - 13 January 2031.
Type of Employment:
Part-time = 15-16 hours per month, not to exceed 500 hours per year.
Estimated Pay:
$38.00 - $40.00 per hour based on experience.
Working Hours The Engineering Technician will perform tasks during the Government's primary operational hours, Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM through 6:00 PM. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Telework may be authorized with coordination with the COR and authorized by the Contracting Officer (CO).
Engineering Technician
Summary of Duties The Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) is the medical certification, education, research, and occupational medicine arm of the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) under the auspices of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Aviation Safety (AVS). The Aerospace Medical Research Division of CAMI (AAM-600) is located at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City, OK.
The Aerospace Medical Research Division accomplishes the following core functions in support of the FAAs aviation safety mission. The Engineering Technician will support the Forensic Sciences Section in processing incoming toxicology specimens (primarily biological specimens, including blood, urine, and tissues), etc.
Qualifications
Associates degree or higher in engineering technology or similar fields.
One (1) year of experience with a masters degree.
Four (4) years of experience with a Bachelors Degree.
Five (5) years of experience with an Associate Degree.
Knowledge of principles and practices of biology, chemistry, and forensic toxicology.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong customer service skills and time management.

The Engineering Technician is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform research, building prototypes, inspecting products, ensuring sites are safe and clean, providing customer support, and coordinating with the government engineer.
Must be able to troubleshoot equipment, communicate effectively and under pressure, and provide practical suggestions for improvement.
Must demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering terminology and be able to work well with a team.
Must be able to work alongside engineers to design, build, and test solutions to a variety of technical problems.
Inspecting and modifying existing designs and prototypes in coordination with government staff.
Conducting research, collecting data, and drafting reports.
Using modeling software to develop designs and implement feedback from Engineers and other Research Experts.
Running tests, diagnostics, and calibrations
Conducting experiments, investigations, and technical components.
Analyzing operations and offering suggestions for improvement.
