Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU) position requiring open-heart recovery experience and a valid MD or compact RN license.
Responsibilities Work in an 18-bed Cardiovascular Surgical ICU in a hospital setting Care for post-cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplant, ventricular assist device, and complex cardiothoracic patients Nurse to patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 Assignment offers rotating day and night shifts (7A/7P) Schedule options available for 36 or 48 hours per week Uses EPIC for charting Specialized equipment includes ventilators, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires and pacemakers, Level 1 IABP, and ECMO Responsible for caring for patients recovering from cardiac and cardiothoracic surgeries, transplants, and device placements Must be capable of titrating complex vasoactive medications and managing critical care equipment Team-oriented ICU environment with support from multidisciplinary staff Multiple orientation dates available throughout the contract period Local candidates are accepted at the same rate, except for Howard County General where a 60-mile radius exclusion applies Scrub color requirements not specified
Requirements Active MD or compact state RN license Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Recent experience with post-op cardiac surgery recovery in an ICU setting required Hands-on experience with ventilators, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires or pacemakers, titrating vasoactive drips, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and ECMO required Experience in a dedicated open-heart unit receiving direct OR patients required Previous experience in a hospital with 500 or more beds required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Critical Care certification, trauma course, and EPIC experience preferred
