Job Summary: Packaging Mechanic
The Pharmaceutical Packaging Mechanic is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging equipment used in the production of pharmaceutical products. This role ensures that packaging lines run efficiently and in compliance with cGMP, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate packaging equipment such as bottle unscramblers, tablet counters, blister packers, labelers, cartoners, sealers, and case packers (simplyhired.com) (https://www.simplyhired.com/job/3OJuBXWeJfzCXe3ij4aPz_z-BwkXn9a50PzFLBTN4iNP65rfkkRSGw)
Perform changeovers and adjustments to accommodate different product formats and specifications
Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform corrective actions to minimize downtime
Document all maintenance activities, changeovers, and repairs in accordance with cGMP standards
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize line performance
Train packaging operators on equipment setup, operation, and cleaning procedures
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols including PPE and Lockout/Tagout procedures
Interface with equipment vendors for troubleshooting and parts procurement
Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical or nutraceutical packaging environments
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints, schematics, and SOPs
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent documentation and communication skills

This is a Permanent position based out of Totowa, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
