Accountant
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate budget and accounting records for Federal and State grants, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the preparation of key financial reports and audits. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and grant managers. The position is contracted through the start of August.
Qualifications Proficiency with the CGI ERP System is required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Experience with federal and state grant accounting preferred. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
Maintain budget and accounting records for Federal and State grants, providing regular financial reports to grant managers and supervisors. Prepare financial reports for management, state, and federal oversight agencies. Assist in preparing financial statements, schedules, and footnote disclosures for external auditors and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Perform daily banking and investment activities. Support the fiscal supervisor with accounting functions including the general fund operating budget, capital projects, enterprise funds, grants, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting. Assist with maintaining the chart of accounts. Verify and reconcile information in payroll and financial systems. Coordinate billing and collection of funds due from outside agencies. Prepare, review, and approve disbursements, journal entry requests, and cash remittances. Prepare payroll labor cost corrections for grants and operating accounts. Develop revenue and expenditure projections and ensure accuracy in forecasting. Review transactions for compliance with established procedures and State financial reporting requirements. Consult with and provide assistance to principals, school-based secretaries, fiscal assistants, and department heads on accounting procedures and systems. Develop and deliver training materials related to financial accounting processes. Assist the fiscal supervisor with compliance reviews of federal grant activity and audit response preparation. Investigate audit findings and contribute to corrective action plans. Job Requirements
