Position Summary
The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a key member of the HR team, supporting the full employee lifecycle and ensuring a high-quality employee experience. This role is responsible for managing core HR operations including payroll, onboarding and offboarding, leave of absence administration, performance management, HR reporting, and general employee support. The Senior HR Generalist also acts as a backup to recruitment efforts and plays a central role in ensuring HR processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with company values.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & HR Operations
Administer and process bi-weekly payroll in partnership with Finance and external vendors (e.g., ADP), ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS, including compensation changes, benefit elections, and job data updates. Support payroll-related reconciliations, audits, and year-end reporting (W-2, ACA, etc.). Identify and recommend process improvements in payroll and data management workflows. Recruitment & Onboarding Support
Serve as backup to recruitment, assisting with job postings, interview coordination, and candidate communications as needed. Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth and consistent candidate and new hire experience. Lead onboarding activities, including orientation scheduling, system setup, and benefits enrollment. Oversee offboarding processes, ensuring compliance with exit procedures, benefits continuation, and final pay. Employee Relations & HR Inbox Management
Manage and monitor the HR inbox, triaging inquiries and ensuring timely and accurate responses. Provide employees with guidance on HR policies, benefits, and procedures. Escalate complex employee relations issues appropriately, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Leave of Absence Administration
Administer and track all leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, personal, and other statutory leaves). Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and communicate effectively with employees and managers throughout the leave process. Performance Management
Support the annual and mid-year performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and calibration. Assist managers and employees with performance management system navigation and best practices. Partner with HR leadership to ensure consistency and fairness across the process. HR Reporting & Analytics
Prepare and distribute regular HR reports, including monthly headcount, turnover, new hire, and termination reports. Generate ad hoc reports and analytics for HR and leadership as requested (e.g., compensation trends, diversity, time-to-fill metrics, etc.). Maintain HR dashboards and ensure data integrity within HR systems. Support compliance and audit requests by providing timely and accurate HR data. Projects & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to HR projects and initiatives such as engagement surveys, system upgrades, and policy updates. Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and enhance the employee experience. Support communication rollouts and change management efforts tied to HR programs. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. 5+ years of progressive HR experience with hands-on exposure to payroll, reporting, and generalist responsibilities. Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms (ADP Workforce Now preferred). Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and comfort with HR reporting and data visualization. Solid understanding of employment laws and HR compliance requirements. HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) preferred.
