Salary: $83,028.00 - $100,032.00

(commensurate with documented experience)

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Accelerate learning to close achievement gaps and ensure a college-ready foundation for every student by working with the campus administration to develop and deliver professional development to address campus specific needs; facilitating instructional conversations during Professional Learning Committee (PLC) meetings; working one on one with teachers that require and/or request instructional support; making data driven decisions; identifying specific areas of need based on TEKS and student performance; determining appropriate interventions to support students and to bridge academic gaps in learning; and interfacing with all appropriate departments to ensure coordination and alignment of instructional practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Master's degree in educational administration or curriculum and instruction

Appropriate Texas Principal certificate preferred

Certified in TTESS Appraisal System preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Thorough knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

Ability to coordinate district staff development

Ability to implement and interpret policy, procedures, and data

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

EXPERIENCE:

Three years' credible administrative experience in curriculum and instruction preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Essential Functions Accelerate campus transformation through 1) strong leadership, 2) effective teaching and 3) high expectations to ensure every student develops the foundation for college readiness. Support common vision for school improvement with staff. Direct planning activities and put programs in place with staff to ensure attainment of school and district vision. Partner with campus principals and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in identifying, analyzing, and applying research findings to promote school improvement Monitor instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions. Partner with district and campus level leadership in directing instructional and curriculum services to meet students' needs. Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs with teachers, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, assessment techniques and all school improvement requirements. Apply accountability research, monitor and analyze district and campus data. Improve the content, sequence, and results of the teaching and learning process. Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs. Plan the necessary time, resources, and materials to support accomplishment of educational goals. Participate in the district-level decision making process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs for 6-12 grade. Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and the campus performance objectives. Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to examine curriculum and instructional program effectiveness. Assist in planning and providing effective staff development activities that incorporate the mission of the district, program evaluation outcomes, and input from teachers and others. Assist in securing consultants, specialists, and other community resources for principals and supervise instructional staff to assist in attaining objectives. Work in collaboration with C&I Department to support all levels of instruction.

Coaching and Training

Provides on-site support through coaching and modeling to principals and teachers. Assists instructional staff with the implementation of instruction that is aligned with state and district standards, curriculum frameworks, and assessments. Serve as a trainer for professional development for teachers and other district staff, plans follow-up activities. Organizes opportunities for staff to observe and participate in discussion and conferencing activities as part of a peer coaching process. Meets with fellow coaches and central office administrators to participate in professional development and planning.

Monitoring

Assists the principal and the school improvement team in the planning and implementation of the school's effort to increase academic achievement for all students. Meets with leadership and teacher teams to analyze and interpret data, utilizing these analyses to identify areas of need in the core program. Facilitates instructional conversations during Professional Learning Committee (PLC) meetings Assist in the development of methods to evaluate the effectiveness of a school's efforts to improve instruction. Assists in the coordination of grant activities, special services, intervention, and progress monitoring strategies. Maintains and submits logs and documentation in a timely manner. Stays abreast of current research and trends in pedagogy Additional Duties

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated excellent communication (written and oral) interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse community, district staff members, parents, community and the public. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including the differentiation of instruction based upon student learning differences. Knowledge of test construction and basic psychometrics. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
