What we are searching for:
An experienced Plant Manager for our Fort Wayne, IN plant. This position will be a hands-on leadership position responsible for providing directions to supervisors and up to 100 contract employees. Strong organizational, teamwork, and self-starter skills will lead you to success in this role. This position will report to the Area Manager.
How you will contribute:
Position will lead safety, quality, productivity, and 5S initiatives within the facility
Lead daily plant communication meetings to present information regarding safety, quality, and daily production planning.
Position will oversee and facilitate the site safety program and site quality program, including annual certifications and trainings.
Daily communication with the on-site staffing agency around site capacity and labor demands
Ensure adherence of employees to cardinal and plant safety rules and that health and safety regulations are obeyed on both shifts.
Ensures delivery of the production plan to the required date, efficiency, and quality.
Lead root cause analysis related to production, quality or safety failures within the facility
Position will work with shift leadership and facilitate standardization and cohesion of daily tasks on both shifts.
Interaction and communication with customer leadership as needed.
Partner with plant leadership to enhance facility performance and metrics- lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and develop innovative practices, methods, and procedures that add value for the facility.
Create and maintain a cohesive team of leaders and provide coaching and development, establish individual and group goals and accountabilities, and evaluate work performance for direct reports.
Inform Area Manager of problems or situations that may have a significant effect on operations.
Spend time on the floor engaging with employees and overseeing plant operations as appropriate while building an effective partnership with plant hourly employees and the maintenance team to improve overall plant safety, performance, equipment uptime, operational cost, and production.
Develop a working knowledge of P&L statements to manage and control costs to improve plant financial results.
What it takes:
4-year degree, Business Administration or Engineering
5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
You should be high-energy and capable of wearing multiple hats
The position will require a high degree of independence, critical thinking, decision-making, and strength in managing a diverse group of people
Experience with 5S and Lean Methodology is a plus
Ability to work overtime and on weekends if business dictates
