Overview:
Reporting to the Wood Truss Supervisor, the Wood Truss Assembler is responsible for assembling precut wooden trusses according to specifications in a safe and efficient manner to meet internal and external customer needs.
Essential Functions:
Promote and drive safety-first culture, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors
Know and follow safety and emergency procedures as needed
Operate assembly equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner to assemble wooden trusses as per customer orders, while adhering to quality specifications
Routinely perform quality checks and make adjustments as needed to provide customer with accurate and damage-free product
Complete all daily orders
Maintain clean work area and workstation prep throughout shift
Complete housekeeping and workstation prep tasks prior to end of shift
Routinely perform preventative maintenance on machinery as per training
Troubleshoot and/or notify immediate supervisor of machine breakdowns or issues
Maintain and/or update department visual tracking metrics boards
Cross-train on other functions in the department
Provide support in meeting and/or exceeding department and plant goals such as safety, quality, scrap prevention and operational excellence
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
Ability to
Properly utilize and maintain all personal protective equipment (PPE)
Read and write
Effectively communicate with others
Read a tape measure, use a mallet and/or pneumatic staple gun and read blueprints
Maintain a dependable attendance record
Receive instruction and follow direction, including technical and multi-step instructions
Work indoors or occasionally outdoors in all weather conditions
Work independently as well as in a team
Work safely, remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Ability and willingness to
Contribute innovative solutions to work-related challenges
Learn, align with and support company goals, values and mission statement
Lead from any role within the organization and contribute in developing fellow team members
Preferred attributes
High school diploma or GED
Previous field-related, forklift and/or manufacturing experience
Construction experience
Reading a tape measure
Pneumatic nail gun

Standing for long periods of time
Routine lifting up to 50 lbs (occasional lifting up to 60 lbs)
Frequent to occasional lifting, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling
