Summary

The Senior Staff Engineer, Mechanical Design develops new mechanical systems/modules and maintains existing designs. Research mechanical concepts and create system solutions using 3D modeling and simulation software. Complete calculations and test, validate, and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the mechanical system that they have designed.

The Senior Staff Engineer, Mechanical Design works with cross functional teams of other engineers, customers, supply chain and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

Detailed Description

Define Complex AI/ML infrastructure mechanical solutions in support of system design objectives and requirements.

Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.

Guide RFQ and Celestica platform mechanical packaging solutions

Ability to rapidly develop and evaluate options and concepts for team analysis

Provide effective mechanical trade-off analysis and competitive guidance to engineering teams and customers.

Support System Requirements Documents (SRD) development, requirement compliance assessments, and Technical proposals.

Act as a primary technical SME to customers on related mechanical topics, concepts, trade-offs, and proposals.

Good knowledge/understanding of FEA/CFD analysis

Deep knowledge of rack structures, MiG, Tig, Welding. Quality inspection of welds

Understanding of costs and tooling as well schedules of the process

Identify and resolve cross-functional and cross-discipline architectural issues

Identify and Champion process improvement efforts as needed.

Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.

Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, tradeshows, etc.

Maintain current on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Min. 10+ years of direct working experiences in electronic product mechanical design, related to compute / networking / rack level product design experience is a MUST.

Experience with liquid cooling systems, modular chassis and cabled designs

Experience with high volume production and high reliability and serviceable products

Experience in mechanical design in a multi-disciplinary environment, and multiple type of product development cycles

Good knowledge in material property, manufacturing process, tolerance analysis, stress analysis, thermal analysis, skills to perform kinematics analysis is a plus

Good knowledge in sheet metal tooling, plastic tooling and die casting tooling.

Good knowledge in industrial standards and system level environmental compliance

Good experience on optical module application is a plus.

Super user of Creo a must. Knowledge of SolidWorks

Good skills in Microsoft office software

Business travel possible (include the oversea travel)

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with a minimum of supervision in a dynamic team environment. Good interpersonal skills: be able to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments and clients; as a high degree of liaison is needed.

Bachelor or master degree in Mechanical Engineering
