Endoscopy Technician Job Details

Endoscopy Technician Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

5+ years of experience in endoscopy reprocessing or central sterile reprocessing (Required)

Previous patient care experience in an Endoscopy Center or GI Department (Required)

Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) credential (Required)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred

Proficient with endoscopic and reprocessing equipment

Detail-oriented, organized, and accurate

Ability to work independently in a clinical setting

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Endoscopy Technician Responsibilities

Assist physicians with safe and efficient endoscopic procedures for adult patients

Decontaminate, reprocess, and maintain endoscopic equipment and accessories

Ensure cleanliness of GI procedure rooms and reprocessing areas

Manage inventory of endoscopy and reprocessing supplies and equipment

Support patient care in procedure rooms, including specimen collection and room turnaround

Assist in pre- and post-procedure recovery areas, greeting patients and supporting RN staff with patient care and discharge

Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot endoscopic equipment as needed

Ensure compliance with high-level disinfection practices and maintain accurate records
