The Opportunity We invite a talented and experienced professional to take the reins of our pricing and portfolio valuation function. This critical role is essential in ensuring timely, independent, and equitable valuations of all invested assets, including public and private securities, derivatives, loans, commercial mortgages (CMLs), and real estate. These responsibilities will be carried out within our Investment Data Ecosystem. The successful candidate will validate asset values and maintain the integrity of pricing data, ensuring seamless integration into our core financial reporting and investment analytics systems. This position combines strategic leadership of a specialized pricing team with ownership of pricing policies and controls. You will work collaboratively with investment teams, external service providers, and regulatory stakeholders. A key aspect of this role involves developing your team through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing to enhance expertise and promote cross-functional cooperation. We seek a candidate with extensive knowledge of complex asset classes, strong valuation expertise, and a demonstrated capacity for improving processes and integrating technology within pricing and valuation frameworks. The Team The Pricing and Valuations team is part of the MassMutual Investment Operations group within the Investment Management division, reporting to the Head of the Positions and Pricing Oversight Team. This team collaborates closely with asset-class-specific investment teams and is aligned with the reconciliations team to ensure consistency with MassMutual's operational processes. The Impact The Pricing & Valuations Director will significantly contribute to the following 4 focus areas: Strategy & Governance

Define and continually enhance the Pricing & Valuations Policy according to regulatory guidelines and MassMutual's policies. Serve on the Valuations Committee by setting agendas, preparing materials, documenting meetings, and ensuring timely escalation of significant valuation matters. Propose and implement enhancements to pricing and valuation processes across technology, data, personnel, and operational practices.

Operational Oversight

Oversee daily and month-end price capture, tolerance checks, stale price monitoring, and exception management across all asset classes (listed equity, fixed income, OTC/ETD derivatives, private assets, loans, real assets). Provide insights on complex valuation models (DCF, comparable transactions, NAV waterfall, Black-Scholes, CVA/DVA, etc.). Approve asset valuations and partner with asset managers and third-party pricing vendors to resolve challenges. Report on pricing issues, processes, and risks to MassMutual governance forums.

Control & Risk Management

Own controls pertaining to pricing source hierarchy, valuation adjustments (liquidity, credit, FX, bid-ask), and fair-value levelling. Lead periodic independent price verification (IPV) and provide attestation to Audit & Risk Committees. Coordinate requests from external auditors and manage inquiries from regulators/board on valuation matters.

People Leadership

Lead and mentor a team of 4-5 pricing analysts/valuation specialists. Drive talent development, succession planning, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and constructive challenge.

The Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a STEM field. 10+ years in asset management, hedge fund, custodian, or Big 4 valuation advisory. 3+ years in a leadership role. The Ideal Qualifications CFA and/or CAIA preferred. In-depth understanding of multi-asset valuation techniques, pricing vendor landscape, and accounting/reporting standards. Proven track record in designing and maintaining control environments. Advanced Excel/VBA skills; familiarity with Python, SQL, or Alteryx is advantageous. Knowledge of order-management and accounting platforms (e.g., Aladdin, SimCorp, Geneva, Eagle) is beneficial. Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen; effective communicator at C-suite/board level; remains calm under pressure while balancing independence with business partnership mentality.
