Job Summary

The ESH Billing Specialist acts as a service agent to provide basic financial counseling to patients admitted into Eastern State Hospital. This position will assists the Business office department in a busy behavior health setting. Must have general knowledge of basic behavior health regulations, basic financial counseling background and a basic knowledge of scheduling referral appointments. The following skills are needed in the position: Has a keen attention to details, as this is required for both receiving and filling paperwork for a patient and when entering information into a hospital's computer system; work as a team player to make certain the patient receives the best possible experience. An understanding of medical terminology; a working knowledge and ability to use all necessary office equipment; be proficient in windows-based technologies (ex. Word, Excel).

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Must know Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The employee shall become familiar with HIPAA regulations and do their utmost to protect all protected health information (PHI).

Preferred Education/Experience

Associate's Degree and four years of experience.
