Description
Responsible for the administration and monitoring of the security aspects of organizations' local and wide area networks, as well as internet connectivity, hardware, software, and other related areas. This includes but is not limited to the management of all servers, personal computers, appliances, routers, switches, firewalls, IPS devices, Cisco VoIP servers, and VPN connectivity. Management of the organization's web filtering, and security analytics solutions, host-based IPS or anti-malware solutions, and the management of any Windows and/or Linux servers and applications that support the network/security hardware, phone system, video conferencing, or network connectivity. Assists with security certification, compliance, vendor management, incident response, and vulnerability assessments. Additional responsibilities include performing security research; identifying vulnerabilities, threats, and designing the necessary safeguards to minimize risk and defend against potential attacks. This position requires a mix of security administration and technical infrastructure experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary person responsible for the security related support, administration, and maintenance of the Microsoft, Linux, and HP servers/networks within the organization Daily maintenance and the security related support of existing servers, VMware, and Cisco Networking environment Responsible for security design and testing of all network protocols implemented on the public and private computer networks Develops and maintains documentation related to the structure of the data and computer networks Develops scripts to audit data in different databases to ensure security Provide administration, documentation, and implementation expertise for data security Holds primary responsibility for ensuring data backups for all systems are done and shall share system backup duties with other IT staff members Mentor staff in data security technologies and practices Perform monthly tests of the backup systems and to ensure data and backup procedure integrity Ensure all patches, updates, and upgrades are installed on all network servers on a regular basis Serve as an expert resource on data and technology security Lead the security implementation of new network equipment or cabling Serve as network security administrator and ensure compliance Perform routine security assessments of network infrastructure and make recommendations on upgrades and new technology Identify vulnerabilities and reduce risk by analyzing processes, network designs, and software designs Manage security initiatives from design to implementation utilizing new technologies with minimal impact to production environment Assists in the preventive monitoring of potential information security threats, investigation of alleged information security breaches, and, if necessary, drives appropriate response to the breach Utilize industry best practices NIST CSF, CIS, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements to recommend and/or design security controls and processes to mitigate risk Provide in-depth support for information security incidents including internal violations, malicious attacks, malware/virus/trojan and system outages. Assist with the investigation of security breaches, policy violations, and other security incidents Develop and implement strategies that balance security recommendations with business needs Collaborates with personnel across the organization to ensure appropriate risk levels are identified for information assets Assist director in implementing and enforcing computer network policies and procedures Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies in an ethical manner Performs other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements and perform essential functions through a combination of education and work experience in related field. Incident response Five years of information technology experience; with at least two years of network security experience Experience with network and other systems security tools Security testing methodologies like penetration testing In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, TCP/IP, including MS Windows and Linux based operating systems Installation and management of security on different operating systems Phishing, advanced persistent threats (APT), and social engineering Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Strong documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with strong customer service orientation Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail A record of satisfactory performance and reliability in all prior and current employment Preferred
• Certifications within:
o CISSP, CompTIA CySA+, SecurityX
o Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP )
o VMware (VCP)
o Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, CCVP, CCIE, etc.)
