Electrical Hardware Design Engineer

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
CPI has an immediate opening for an
Electrical Hardware Design Engineer
to support the design and development of advanced weapons and navigation system hardware. The selected engineer will perform
schematic design, layout, and validation
of digital electronic subsystems containing
FPGAs, DDR RAM (DDR3, DDR4, LPDDR4)
memory interfaces, and
digital communication interfaces
such as
I2C, SPI, and SDIO .
This position offers a hands-on engineering environment working closely with cross-functional teams including software, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines to deliver high-performance hardware systems supporting defense applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform schematic design and layout for high-speed digital boards and subsystems. Execute schematic capture and circuit design for FPGA and DDR memory-based hardware. Conduct power and signal integrity analysis to ensure design quality and compliance. Develop test procedures and utilize lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers) for validation and troubleshooting. Support prototype development, test planning, and system integration activities. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and testability. Participate in technical reviews and provide engineering documentation. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree
in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field. Minimum of
5 years
of relevant engineering experience, or a
Master's degree
with
3 years
of experience. Hands-on experience with schematic capture and layout design of digital subsystems. Proficiency in high-speed design, DDR memory interfaces, and digital communication protocols (I2C, SPI, SDIO). Skilled in the use of laboratory test equipment for validation and debugging. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience designing
PCBs/PWBs
using
Siemens Xpedition
or similar EDA tools. Understanding of
design for manufacturing (DFM)
and
design for test (DFT)
principles. Knowledge of
signal and power integrity analysis . Experience designing high-speed, FPGA-based circuit boards. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and collaboration within cross-functional engineering environments. Ability to mentor junior engineers and support peer design reviews. WORKPLACE OPTIONS:
