Committee Summary The Donor Engagement Committee is responsible for cultivating and maintaining meaningful relationships with AL!VE's donors and prospective supporters. The committee develops and implements strategies to increase philanthropic support, enhance donor retention, and ensure donors feel valued and connected to AL!VE's mission of advancing the field of volunteer engagement. The committee works collaboratively with AL!VE leadership to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and sustainability goals. MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Development Planning : Plan and oversee AL!VE's comprehensive development program, creating awareness among members, stakeholders, and partner organizations while ensuring strategic investment in fundraising activities Donor Cultivation & Stewardship : Develop and execute personalized engagement strategies for current and prospective donors at all giving levels, maintaining ongoing communication and building meaningful relationships Campaign & Initiative Support : Assist in planning and implementing annual giving campaigns, special appeals, and fundraising initiatives aligned with AL!VE's educational, advocacy, and outreach goals Communications & Content Development : Create donor-focused content including thank-you communications, impact reports, solicitation materials, and storytelling that demonstrates impact Prospect Research & Identification : Identify and research potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors aligned with AL!VE's mission Events & Recognition : Plan and execute donor appreciation events and cultivation activities that strengthen relationships and demonstrate gratitude Data-Informed Engagement : Support tracking of donor interactions, preferences, and giving history to inform personalized engagement and monitor results against development plans Goals, Metrics & Strategy : Contribute to development of donor engagement goals, metrics, and long-term fundraising strategies that advance organizational sustainability Policy & Standards Development : Support development and regular review of policies and procedures for development activities, including ethical standards and organizational accountability Ambassador & Relationship Building : Serve as ambassadors for AL!VE, making personal connections, introducing potential supporters to the organization, and promoting the value of philanthropic investment SAMPLE PROJECTS Design and implement a monthly donor recognition program highlighting the impact of contributions Create a donor journey map identifying touchpoints from first gift through major giving Develop a peer-to-peer fundraising toolkit for AL!VE members to support campaign efforts Organize virtual or in-person donor appreciation events (e.g., impact showcases, behind-the-scenes tours) Launch a legacy giving program encouraging planned gifts and bequests Establish a corporate partnership program connecting AL!VE with aligned businesses Create impact storytelling content (videos, testimonials, case studies) demonstrating donor investment outcomes Develop automated welcome series for new donors ensuring timely and meaningful acknowledgment TIME COMMITMENT Committee members are expected to be well-prepared for and actively participate in all meetings and online discussions, and to carry out tasks as assigned. The estimated time commitment is: minimum of 2-3 hours per month in preparation for and participation in committee meetings and donor solicitation. approximately 1-2 hours per month to provide feedback on written materials/draft documents. approximately 1-2 hours per month to write thank you notes. In any given month, committee members may be asked to provide additional hours dependent on specific activities.
