The Electrical Field Service Testing Technician will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting medium- to high-voltage electrical systems across commercial, industrial, and utility projects. This includes protective relay testing, electrical controls, and system diagnostics. The role requires precision, strong safety awareness, and direct customer interaction.
Former U.S. Navy Nuclear Electrician's Mates (EMs), Electronics Technicians (ETs), and U.S. Army Prime Power Specialists are highly encouraged to apply.
Requirements: 1-3+ years of field service experience in electrical testing or commissioning
Solid understanding of circuit breakers, relays, transformers, and control systems
Familiarity with SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Schweitzer, and Basler protective relay systems
Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and relay logic
Hands-on experience with test equipment such as Doble, OMICRON, Megger, and RTS/AVTS software
Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Excellent knowledge of NFPA 70E arc flash practices and jobsite safety protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior U.S. Navy EM or ET, or U.S. Army Prime Power Specialist
NETA Level II certification or NICET Level III/IV
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field
OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety certifications
Responsibilities:
Perform acceptance, maintenance, and commissioning tests on electrical power systems ranging from 480V to 345kV Conduct protective relay testing (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based) Troubleshoot control circuits, switchgear, transformers, breakers, switches, and MCCs Interpret electrical drawings and relay logic for troubleshooting and diagnostics Interface directly with customers, providing professional service and technical insight Generate accurate and detailed test reports in compliance with NETA, IEEE, and NFPA 70E standards Maintain strong safety practices and adhere to all jobsite protocols Travel regionally and nationally to customer sites as required
