Contribute to Vitalant's life-saving mission by overseeing the coordination of facility maintenance/repair requirements. Ensure proper maintenance, repair, and environmental conditions of buildings and grounds. Support management in achieving collection goals and ensuring cost effective operations.
What to Expect
Schedule:
Monday - Friday (40 hours per week) - 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
Note: This position does have a call schedule.
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you'll get to: Perform advanced inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on building systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. Lead and execute complex work orders involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural maintenance. Independently troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures, recommending long-term solutions to prevent recurrence. Coordinate and oversee contractor work, ensuring compliance with specifications, timelines, and safety standards. Support facility upgrades, renovations, and special projects by providing technical input and hands-on execution. Maintain and calibrate building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, and access control infrastructure. Mentor and guide Facilities Technicians in performing routine maintenance and safety procedures. Ensure documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, and contractor services is complete and accurate. Collaborate with Enterprise Facilities Management to ensure compliance with OSHA, GMP, and internal policies. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and participate in on-call rotations as needed. Requirements
Knowledge/Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
License/Certification

A valid certification in one or more of the following trades is preferred and may be required depending on assignment: • HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) - e.g., EPA Section 608 Certification • Electrical - e.g., Journeyman Electrician License • Plumbing - e.g., State Plumbing License or equivalent • Facilities Maintenance Technician Certification - e.g., IFMA Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) or similar • Additional certifications in OSHA safety standards or building automation systems are a plus.
