Job Summary The Accounting Specialist supports the Finance department by accurately processing expense-related transactions and maintaining liability accounts. This position plays a key role in accountspayable processing, invoice coding, accrual support, and reconciliation of liability accounts. Theideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated to maintaining accurate and timelyfinancial records related to expenses and obligations. Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Duties/Responsibilities: Review, code, and enter vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and payment requestsin the accounting system Assist with processing and reconciling accounts payable transactions Support the month-end and year-end close process for expense and liability accounts Monitor outstanding payables and follow up with internal departments or vendors toresolve discrepancies Assist in maintaining and reconciling liability accounts, including:
Accrued payroll Employee benefits Credit card transactions Other short-term liabilities
Prepare supporting documentation for journal entries related to expense accruals andreclassifications Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting procedures for all expense-related activities Help organize and provide documentation for audits, especially related to accountspayable and liabilities Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate expense submissionsand approvals Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as needed Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities
Understanding of basic accounting principles, especially related to expenses andliabilities Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software Clear communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow established procedures and maintain confidentiality of financial data Education and Experience
Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (required) Bachelor's degree in progress or completed is a plus 1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably with a focus onexpenses or accounts payable Experience working in a nonprofit or grant-funded organization is a plus Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Financial Edge, Sage Intacct) preferred but notrequired Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
This is an on-site position at DAP Health Administration Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds
