TITLE: Test Technician
DEPARTMENT: Emissions
REPORTS TO: Emissions Lab Manager
LOCATION:
La Crosse, WI
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists the Emissions Team with performing emissions testing of new products, vehicles, and technologies related to exhaust, evaporative, and sound emissions compliance following regulatory procedures. Will work with other emissions lab personnel, Product Development personnel, and external customers to set up and maintain vehicles, perform the testing required, and maintain the lab calibrations and operation. The Emissions Test Technician will become well versed in the ever changing emission test procedures, standards, and regulations in various regions of the world.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as a reliable provider of testing solutions Maintain lab equipment calibrations and operation as per Federal regulations and lab documented procedures Set up and maintain vehicles and equipment for testing, may require fabrication or modification of components to allow for testing Responsible for removing and installing parts on vehicles; this may include air cleaners, exhaust, camshafts, and other accessories Thoroughly record, format, report, and file test reports in a clear and concise format Confers with engineers to clarify or resolve problems, and make changes to vehicles to aid in testing Inspect all components and vehicles as they arrive for any defects or compliance issues. Any parts or vehicles deemed unsatisfactory should be documented Operate Product Development test equipment such as dynamometers, emissions benches, and data acquisition equipment Support the diagnosis and repair of any equipment issues Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment Operate and maintain test vehicles to ensure safe operations and accurate test results, this includes basic oil and filter changes and other maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience or training in emissions, powersports, or a related industry. Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards Must be able to follow company and industry regulations to ensure compliance High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus Well organized and self-directed Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion Must have a good driving record and be able to complete the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Experienced Rider course Minimum of 2 years of related experience in emissions, motorcycle technician or powersports industry Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Standing for long periods of time Use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls Walk, stoop, crouch and bend Reach above shoulders Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance Push/roll motorcycles to maneuver them around the facilities Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception Must comply with safety equipment standards; safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed shoes TRAVEL:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected Job location is in La Crosse, with occasional days at S&S Viola facility
