Mechanical Engineer/Designer (AutoDesk Inventor)

Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer / Designer works directly with small teams to produce 3D models, drawings, and fabrication packages of custom equipment. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small-scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines), and pressure vessels. This position requires advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling, drawing creation, and fabrication package development.
Responsibilities:
Perform detailed design and engineering activities including preparation of component, subassembly, and main assembly Autodesk Inventor models; creation of detailed fabrication drawing packages; evaluation and selection of purchased components; development of detailed Bills of Materials; and completion of equipment datasheets. Establish model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables, maintaining file naming conventions and design file organization within Inventor. Collaborate with project engineers to develop technical solutions that meet performance, safety, and fabrication requirements. Provide checking and review support for design packages and fabrication drawings. Ensure all design activities are conducted following regimented quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Required Experience:
High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred, depending on experience. Must demonstrate expert proficiency with Autodesk Inventor. Experience with Autodesk Vault or similar PDM systems preferred. Familiarity with other 3D systems (Creo, SolidWorks, or CATIA), 2D software (AutoCAD preferred), and Autodesk Revit is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Proven capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, including development of fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets, and design record documents. Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments a plus; hands-on experience with the types of equipment listed above strongly preferred. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance.
