JOB TITLE: VP of Engineering

RATE RANGE: $170k - $180k base salary
POSITION SUMMARY:
Our client's SaaS analytics solution helps financial institutions optimize their "online branch" Our customers typically see a +50% increase in online sales within months of turning on our analytics. No similar solution exists today-customers consistently tell us they cannot grow online without our product.
We're seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead all aspects of developing, operating, and scaling our client's platform. This is both a strategic and hands-on role-you will define our technology roadmap, manage and grow the engineering organization, and personally engage where technical depth or leadership gaps exist. You'll ensure the AI platform is scalable, reliable, secure, and measurable, backed by robust exception reporting and a structured development and testing process that minimizes operational and performance risk.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Vision & Strategy Define and execute the long-term technical architecture and platform strategy.
Maintaining stability and uptime.
Balance short-term delivery with scalable long-term design decisions.
Personally fill technical gaps when required-this is both a leadership and a
player-coach role.
Champion adoption of AI-assisted development workflows.
Engineering Process & Risk Management Implement a structured software development lifecycle (SDLC) that includes automated
testing, code review, continuous integration, and controlled release management.
Establish robust exception reporting, anomaly detection, and performance monitoring to
proactively identify and address system risks.
Implement automated diagnostics to detect changes in input data, processing failures, or
display layer failures.
Introduce clear quality and reliability metrics-defect density, and end user system
uptime.
Create a disciplined process for development, testing, and release validation to ensure
predictability and quality.
Platform & Architecture Leadership Oversee the full technical stack:
Real-time event data ingestion from client, ad network, and financial systems
Aggregated performance reporting and insights delivery
Ensure cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP) remains secure, cost-efficient, and
observable.
Operational Excellence Own platform uptime, reliability, and scalability.
Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and structured post-incident review
processes.
Define and manage system KPIs such as latency, throughput, and cost-performance
optimization.
Ensure consistent visibility into platform health through dashboards and real-time
exception alerting.
Security & Compliance Own Alpharank's security and compliance posture across all environments.
Implement secure-by-design development practices, including encryption, key
management, and access controls.
Maintain readiness for SOC 2 and other regulatory frameworks common in financial
services.
Partner with customers and external auditors to demonstrate compliance and
transparency.
Team Leadership & Culture Build and scale a high-performing remote engineering organization.
Recruit, mentor, and develop top engineering talent with a focus on ownership,
accountability, and technical excellence.
Set clear expectations for quality, delivery, and communication across teams.
Encourage structured innovation where experimentation is guided by data and
automated evaluation frameworks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Product to translate business objectives into technical deliverables.
Support Sales and Customer Success with technical insight during enterprise
deployments, performance reviews, and troubleshooting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 4+ years leading teams as a Director, Head of Engineering, or VP. Proven record scaling SaaS or data-intensive platforms with high reliability, security, and compliance needs. Hands-on technical expertise with: Cloud Platforms: AWS (S3, EC2, ECS, Glue, Athena), Data & ML Stack: Python, Pandas, Airflow, model evaluation, optimization, and reinforcement learning. Monitoring & Observability: Exception reporting, logging frameworks, CI/CD, and metrics (Datadog, CloudWatch, or equivalent). Deep understanding of SDLC, testing automation, and release governance. Strong grasp of software and data security principles in regulated industries. Excellent communicator who bridges technical depth with business clarity. Experienced in leading remote, distributed engineering teams.
