We are seeking a skilled and versatile
R&D
Maintenance Technician
to support the upkeep, repair, and optimization of our R&D equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with
AC electrical systems
,
HVAC
,
PLC programming
,
general maintenance
, and
equipment/test fixture fabrication and repair
. This role is critical to ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and reliability across all systems.
This position is located in APEX, NC.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and emergency maintenance on test chamber systems including HVAC, plumbing.
Troubleshoot and repair
AC electrical test systems
in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
Install, maintain, and program
PLC systems
for automated equipment and processes.
Fabricate, assemble, and maintain
test fixtures
and
custom equipment
to support R&D engineering.
Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections on machinery and some facility infrastructure.
Collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other relevant safety codes and standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in
AC electrical systems
, including
troubleshooting and repair
.
Strong knowledge of
HVAC systems
, including diagnostics and maintenance.
Proficiency in
PLC programming
(e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
Skilled in
mechanical fabrication
, including welding, machining, and use of hand/power tools.
Experience with
fixture and jig design and fabrication
.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance.
5+ years of experience in a maintenance technician role.
OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training.
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for detailed work.
