Student Success at ABAC is comprised of the offices of Academic Support, Accommodation & Disability Services, the Career Center, the Counseling Center, TRIO Student Support Services (SSS), and the Tutoring Center. Academic Support houses the Academic Support Counselors and the Testing Center to provide a wide range of educational and student support services and programs to more than 4,000 undergraduates at ABAC.
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Student Success, the Project Director for ABAC TRIO SSS program provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the design, development, implementation, administration, supervision, evaluation and activities for this U.S. Department of Education grant-funded program. This role is responsible for ensuring strong student engagement, delivering holistic and effective support services, maintaining compliance with federal regulations and grant objectives, and using data to drive continuous improvement. The Director oversees all aspects of program delivery, supervises a full time Academic Support Counselor and part time Administrative Data Specialist, manages the program budget, and reports program outcomes data to the U.S. Department of Education, providing comprehensive academic support services to 140 eligible college students with a range of academic needs, who are first-generation, low-income students and/or have a disability.
This position is funded by a US Department of Education TRIO Student Support Services grant awarded September 2025 and is contingent upon availability of continued annual funding for an estimated five years.
Duties & Responsibilities: Engage and supervise professional staff to carry out proposed activities and services. Develop and implement strategies to recruit students from the target population. Organize, direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the total activities of SSS. Serve as Academic Support Counselor for all SSS participants. Maintain communication and liaison with all ABAC departments and colleges, feeder schools, and community members who could support the SSS Program. Ensure implementation of evaluation of the objectives stated in the proposal. Coordinate and assist staff in establishing and maintaining the mentoring, tutoring, and educational programs. Coordinate all assessment activities; ensure collection of data to be analyzed and used in reviewing all program facets. Participate in state, regional, and national SSS conferences. Serve as primary liaison to U.S. Dept. of Education. Ensure proper administration of the budget in keeping with proper grants management. Assure that all federal reports are timely, accurate, and complete. Qualifications:
Required masters degree in related academic or counseling discipline from an accredited institution of higher education. At least 5 years of full-time professional postsecondary education and/or student services work experience including program development, implementation, and management of a TRIO program or similar educational preparation program. Ability to work effectively with low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities in need of academic assistance. Strong verbal and written communication. Prefer previous federal grant administrative experience. Strong computer skills including competence in Microsoft Office Products. Exceptional leadership ability. USG Core Values
