Job Summary This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer. NATURE OF WORK

Under general supervision of the HVAC Supervisor, performs work of moderate difficulty in skilled Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration maintenance and repair work, as well as other related repairs; this position has countywide responsibility.

Nature of Work (Illustrative Only) Leads assigned projects and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience. Identifies material and equipment needs for each assigned project, submits work authorization documents for ordering supplies and equipment, and processes, estimates, and tracks project work hours and costs; conducts quality control of the work performed by HVAC Mechanics I and II to verify compliance with quality and safety standards; installs, operates, monitors, inspects, maintains and repairs HVAC and refrigeration systems throughout all County facilities; these systems include general and special purpose electric, diesel and natural gas air conditioning units as well as refrigerators and freezers; estimates, performs cost comparisons, selects and requisitions appropriate materials to complete work assignments; performs all tasks associated with HVAC projects, which may include some plumbing and electrical work, and includes reading and understanding blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and plans, and performing job scheduling; conducts themselves in an ethical and professional manner, consistent with Yuma County and department policies and expectations, and makes decisions in the best interest of the County; monitors and adjusts HVAC systems using computerized facility controls to ensure optimal performance and efficiency; regularly conducts inspections and calibrations to address any irregularities or potential issues, ensuring systems are running efficiently and effectively; reviews work orders, troubleshoots repair and maintenance issues, and resolves problems; serves in an on-call capacity after normal business hours; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and five (5) years of experience in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements:

Must possess EPA Universal Certification 608 for compliance with liquid refrigerant recovery and record keeping regulatory requirements; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.

Requires successful completion of a background check.

Sheriff's:

Must successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Yuma County Sheriff's Department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance practices including control systems; ventilating and heating systems including safe handling and record keeping procedures; occupational hazards and required preventive methods. Skill in: Reading blueprints, specifications, and sketches; solving problems using practical mathematics; using test instruments related to the trade; use of tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade; safely operating a variety of equipment and maintaining safety standards; following written and verbal instructions. Ability to: Be exposed to exhaust, chemical fumes and hazardous materials; lift 25 pounds; work in varying extreme weather conditions; work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays; recognize hazardous conditions and react appropriately; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; stand and bend (30%) walk and stoop (20%); perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation. Work Environment:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; generally, the job requires 30% bending, 20% walking, 20% stooping and 30% standing; the job is performed under varying extreme weather conditions and may have risk of exposure to communicable diseases. The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.

Plan Option 1: Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) or PPO A 1100 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,500 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) with a 1700 deductible. Employees who participate in the " Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Employer contributes a total of $800.04 to employees Health Savings Account. If employees select Employee only and participate in the " Wellness Incentive" employees can receive up to 360.00 contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card to be used for medical or dental purposes.

Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan A and PPO Plan B. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
