Job Duties

Under general supervision of the Clerk of Court and direct supervision of the Chief Deputy Clerk of Operations, the Supervising Deputy Clerk supervises, coordinates, reviews, and evaluates the work of the Pre-Court Unit performing a variety of court support work; developing work methods and procedures; recommending procedural changes; and performing related work as required.

Duties include but are not limited to supervising the day-to-day operations and staff of the Pre-Court Unit; training deputy clerks in office procedures and reporting their progress to their supervisor; assisting in the recruitment and selection of staff; assisting in preparing performance evaluations and disciplinary reports; managing and participating in projects and meetings that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processing and resourcing to resolve shared operating problems and establish uniform procedures; demonstrating a thorough knowledge of current statutes, legal practices, and the Court's "Administrative Policies and Procedures" and applying them consistently; directing departmental staff meetings appropriately through demonstrated effective leadership; advising staff regarding questions of procedures and coordination of operations; demonstrating efficient case processing methods; completing and following through on all work accurately and legibly; ensuring case information is accurately and timely entered into the case management system and other required court software; ensuring proper execution of all court documents; maintaining discretion and confidentiality of all court records and proceedings; and maintaining a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers, judges and supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Applicants should be detail-oriented, communicate well both verbally and in writing, have strong organizational skills, be a team player, lead by example, and have a high degree of discretion and integrity working with highly sensitive and confidential matters.

Additional Considerations

A college degree in criminal justice, public administration or a related field, or equivalent experience in a court system is preferred. The most competitive applicants will have experience with the court's case management and document systems and have some supervisory experience.
