We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our engineering team in the North West Twin Cities Metro. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and a passion for driving innovation and excellence in engineering processes.
Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development
Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to engineering teams. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manage resource allocation, performance evaluations, and development plans. Engineering Execution Oversee project execution from design to production release, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective solutions. Review and approve engineering drawings, BOMs, schematics, and technical documentation. Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory codes (e.g., UL), and customer specifications. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Product Management to support product development, improvement, and customization. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Operations teams to ensure smooth transitions and resolve production issues. Participate in quoting and design reviews for large or complex projects. Process Improvement & Innovation Lead initiatives for design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-cost (DFC). Identify and implement process improvements to reduce lead times and enhance quality. Stay informed of industry trends, technologies, and standards. Technical Oversight & Risk Management Act as an escalation point for complex technical challenges or design decisions. Ensure risk assessments and mitigation plans are in place for high-impact projects. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field). Minimum of 7 years' engineering experience, including 2 years in a leadership role. Strong project management skills in a custom or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment. Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing engineering teams. Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and engineering documentation systems. Additional Skills and Experience Experience with electrical equipment, such as switchgear, control panels, or power distribution products. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor), PLM systems, and Lean manufacturing principles. Familiarity with UL, NEC, and other relevant codes and standards.
