This is an office-based role working out of our Chicago office.

This is a cross-functional role requiring strong capabilities in technical vehicle specification, supplier negotiation, contract management, spend analytics, and stakeholder management across operations, maintenance, and procurement.

Duties and Responsibilities

Fleet Sourcing & Specification Develop detailed vehicle and equipment specifications in collaboration with operations and safety teams Lead RFP / bid processes for new fleet acquisitions Perform total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling to evaluate replacement vs. repair decisions Champion fleet standardization where feasible Work with operations teams and potential buyers for retiring Lead the fleet sale process in determining the appropriate sales value based on vehicle condition and market benchmarks, issuing a bill of sale, confirming receipt of payment, and managing title transfer

Fleet Administration & Operations

Oversee title, registration, licensing, and compliance processes across jurisdictions Maintain and manage fleet data in Fleetio Analyze repair histories, identify reliability trends, and optimize maintenance spend Support capital budgeting and forecasting for fleet replacement Ensure compliance with applicable DOT, environmental, and regulatory requirements

Strategic Sourcing & Indirect Procurement

Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for high-spend categories: tires, fuel, parts, fittings, filters, lube/oil, truck accessories, and other MRO items Conduct spend analysis to identify opportunities for consolidation, standardization, and cost reductions Establish and manage national or regional supplier partnerships Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with field needs

Cross-functional Collaboration & Reporting

Provide actionable reporting and insights to leadership on fleet and purchasing metrics. Present sourcing and fleet strategy recommendations and results to senior leadership Manage project timelines, change control, and stakeholder expectations

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in fleet management, procurement, or strategic sourcing, preferably in a distribution, utility, or heavy-equipment environment Deep understanding of vehicle specification, OEMs, upfitters, and total cost of ownership concepts Demonstrated sourcing experience: supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, supplier performance management Experience with fleet management software (Fleetio or equivalent) Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Ability to travel (e.g. to supplier sites, branch locations) as needed Preferred / Nice to Have:

Experience in propane, energy, utility, waste, beverage, or similar route-based distribution environments Experience managing parts or MRO categories (tires, lubricants, fittings) Familiarity with DOT, EPA, and state regulatory requirements for vehicle fleets Lean or continuous improvement experience

Salary - $98K - $110K annual + bonus
