Coating Process Engineer / Manager - Advanced Materials Innovation Are you ready to push the boundaries of coating technology? We're looking for a talented Coating Process Engineer who thrives on precision, innovation, and solving complex materials challenges for our client. In this role, you'll be the technical expert driving the development of cutting-edge coating and thermal processes that enable breakthrough advanced packaging solutions.

What You'll Do Pioneer Advanced Coating Solutions

Develop and optimize state-of-the-art coating processes for photoresist and advanced dielectric materials (PID, PI, ABF) on sophisticated package substrates

Engineer uniform coating parameters that deliver exceptional layer thickness consistency and adhesion performance

Design and fine-tune thermal curing profiles across the entire process window—from soft bake through final cure—ensuring optimal material properties

Own Your Technology Platform

Define specifications for next-generation coating equipment, hot plates, and curing ovens

Lead equipment installation, qualification, and optimization efforts

Partner with leading equipment vendors to drive preventive maintenance strategies and implement performance upgrades

Ensure maximum tool uptime through proactive troubleshooting and performance monitoring

Drive Quality and Process Excellence

Deploy advanced metrology techniques using ellipsometry, thickness gauges, and thermal sensors to maintain tight process control

Implement sophisticated process control systems including SPC charts and run-to-run feedback mechanisms

Validate critical material properties: adhesion strength, thermal stability, compatibility, and outgassing behavior

Lead defect prevention initiatives and root cause investigations for coating and baking-related issues

Enable Seamless Integration

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure your coating processes integrate flawlessly with upstream and downstream operations

Work closely with substrate technology teams on advanced applications including Damascene, SAP, ABF build-up, and Embedding technologies

Support process stability across the entire manufacturing flow

Build Technical Infrastructure

Create comprehensive technical documentation including SOPs, process specifications, recipes, and FMEAs

Establish robust process control plans that ensure consistent, repeatable results

Champion compliance with environmental, safety, and chemical handling standards

Leverage DOE and statistical tools to drive data-driven optimization

What You'll Bring Required Qualifications

Education:

PhD or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Microelectronics, or related field

Experience:

5–10+ years developing coating and thermal processes in semiconductor manufacturing, PCB, or advanced substrate environments

Technical Expertise

Deep understanding of coating materials and chemistries: photoresists, ABF, polyimide (PI), solder mask, and related advanced materials

Hands-on experience with substrate technologies such as Damascene, SAP (Semi-Additive Process), ABF build-up, or Embedding

Proficiency with metrology tools and techniques: ellipsometry, film thickness measurement, thermal profiling

Strong foundation in thermal process development including soft bake, hard bake, PEB, and final cure optimization

Professional Skills

Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities with proven expertise in Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Excellent troubleshooting skills with a track record of resolving complex equipment and process issues

Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-volume production or R&D environments

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and effective communication across technical disciplines
