Overview The primary function of the Project Manager is to act as leader and supervisor over direct reports. The project manager will de-scope each project from the estimator who bid the project. The project manager is then responsible for managing all aspects of the job from start to final completion and do everything possible to complete the project on time and on budget, while maintaining the highest quality and upholding the highest safety standards. Responsibilities

Ensure Safety and Quality are the first priority on every project.

First point of contact, 24/7, for safety or emergency issues.

Immediately report any suspected drug, alcohol, or intoxication to the Safety Director.

Recognized as a safety sensitive position due to proximity to heavy equipment and street/highway construction projects.

Keep projects on budget and on time, coordinating with the estimator on cost changes and change orders as needed.

Assist Superintendents and Safety in conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for each project prior to crew start.

Coordinate with Superintendents, equipment and trucking dispatchers, Safety, shop foreman, testing labs, Asphalt Plant, and suppliers.

Act as the primary point of contact with Project Owners, Developers, General Contractors, General Superintendents, and job-site Foremen to coordinate activities and communications.

Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards within company policy and contract specifications; discuss work procedures and problems with the VP of Ops.

Monitor and control material deliveries to meet project budget; monitor quality control testing and ensure compliance with specs.

Steward project progress and budget under the administrative direction of the VP of Operations to ensure timely completion within budget.

Represent the company in project meetings and strategy sessions.

Collaborate with the contract administrator (President/VP of Ops) to manage financial aspects of contracts and maintain customer relations.

May requisition supplies and materials as needed; obtain permits and coordinate inspections with local jurisdictions.

Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.

Prepare reports on work progress, costs, and scheduling.

Attend project handoff meetings, secure bid specifications and drawings from estimating, and ensure all requirements are captured to keep projects on time and on budget (PROJECT HANDOFF).

Ensure quality and cost controls on each project while ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying and meeting client needs.

Continuously evaluate potential safety issues and coordinate corrective actions with the safety director.

Review customer contracts to ensure alignment with bid scope and specifications used during bidding.

Review subcontracts and purchase orders to ensure they are in files prior to start of work or material orders.

Ensure all subcontractors have signed subcontracts and insurance before allowing them on site.

Manage multiple projects concurrently.

Disseminate project information to the VP of Operations (plans, materials, quantities, equipment, labor hours).

Maintain communication with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors; ensure subs are aware of the project schedule.

Company vehicle policy: drivers must keep vehicles clean; no personal use unless authorized.

Qualifications

Driving record - 5 points or less.

OSHA 10, OSHA 30 (Preferred), CPR certified, and First Aid.

Education - High school diploma or GED; college degree not required but preferred.

Project management knowledge; ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Leadership and teamwork; ability to lead and work with teams.

Mathematical and mechanical knowledge.

Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, HCSS Products, Vista by Viewpoint.

Ability to identify deficiencies and provide solutions in day-to-day operations and on projects.

Expected Hours Of Work & Working Environment This is a full-time position. This role frequently requires long hours and weekend work. All days start no later than 7:00 am; reporting to the office by 7:00 am is required.
