The Opportunity As an
Applications Engineer , you’ll play a pivotal technical role supporting customers and internal teams in the development, optimization, and delivery of advanced AM solutions. You’ll apply your expertise in LPBF metals to assess designs, guide manufacturability improvements, and ensure robust production outcomes from concept through to full‑scale manufacturing.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced AM engineer who enjoys hands‑on technical problem‑solving, customer collaboration, and driving practical applications of metal additive manufacturing in real‑world production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams, supporting the application of LPBF technology to complex components.
Evaluate part geometry, material selection, and process parameters to ensure manufacturability and performance.
Provide design‑for‑AM feedback and collaborate with customers to optimise component performance and cost efficiency.
Support proposal and quoting activities by developing accurate technical input and production plans.
Generate and review build files, cycle time estimates, and post‑processing workflows.
Coordinate with production, quality, and supply chain teams to support successful project execution and delivery.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to technical knowledge sharing across the organisation.
Support customer trials, builds, and technical reviews both remotely and during on‑site visits.
About You
Proven experience in
additive manufacturing (LPBF metals)
within aerospace, defense, or other high‑performance engineering sectors.
Strong understanding of
design for additive manufacturing , build preparation, and post‑processing workflows.
Skilled in
CAD interpretation
(SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar) and familiar with GD&T and engineering drawings.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Self‑motivated and adaptable, with strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (minimum 7 years in related AM/manufacturing roles).
Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems (ProShop, Syteline, Salesforce, or similar).
Additional Information
This position requires
U.S. person status
(U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) in compliance with ITAR regulations.
Hybrid working model: primarily remote, with regular U.S. site visits and future relocation support to
Charlotte, North Carolina .
