Performance Pay:

Available annually

New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

New Hire Education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Job Summary:

To coordinate and monitor the involvement of parents in the education of their children; to serve as a liaison between parents, school and community to promote a welcoming environment; and to provide services to parents and school personnel to facilitate increased student performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and facilitate family literacy trainings/classes and promote class participation Collaborate with teachers and Title I Specialist to provide parent education relevant to student learning Build awareness of parental involvement at national, state and local levels and share their resources with school community Connect parents to leadership and volunteer opportunities Serve as a liaison between school personnel, parents/guardians, school community and the Title I and Community Education departments Serve as a member of Title I Committee/SIAC to help analyze, develop, and implement the School Continuous Improvement Plan Attend district meetings and trainings as required Compile and maintain information on the school website with resources and activities affecting parental involvement Regular and on-time attendance required Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools Required Qualifications:

High School education or equivalent required Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in Spanish preferred Skills & Competencies:

Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, Google Apps, PowerPoint, etc) Basic knowledge of current educational academic standards Ability to confidently create and present information to adult learners Ability to organize, prioritize, take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents/guardians, district personnel at all levels and outside agencies Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with parents/guardians, district personnel at all levels and outside agencies Ability to maintain organized, comprehensive records for reporting purposes Ability and willingness to work flexible and evening hours as needed Possess and utilize group leadership skills to organize parental involvement activities Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Often works in one or more schools within the district, but may also attend meetings or provide services in community centers or students' homes Includes time spent in an office setting for documentation, planning, phone calls, and administrative tasks Works closely with school staff, social workers, administrators, parents/guardians, and community organizations Must be able to move throughout school buildings, attend home visits, and navigate various indoor and outdoor environments Prolonged periods of sitting for administrative tasks or meetings; periods of standing during events or outreach activities. May occasionally need to lift or carry educational materials, resource kits, or supplies (typically under 25 lbs)
