Institute for Educational Initiatives (IEI)
envisions a world where all children, especially those most in need, have access to an education that helps them thrive. Through research, partnerships, and programs such as the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE), IEI works to strengthen and transform K–12 education, grounded in evidence, innovation, and faith. Senior Associate Director
plays a pivotal leadership role within the Institute for Educational Initiatives, serving as a strategic thought partner to the Managing Executive Director and the Institute’s leadership team. This role is ideal for a mission-oriented, systems-minded leader who excels at aligning people, programs, and resources toward a common vision. As a key member of the Institute’s executive leadership team, the Senior Associate Director will oversee core operational functions, guide strategic planning, and strengthen financial stewardship—all in support of IEI’s mission to improve educational opportunities for students worldwide.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
Provide strong day-to-day leadership across the Institute, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and accountability.
Supervise and support the Director of Communications, Director of Business Operations, and Associate Director(s) overseeing facilities, formation, and events.
Partner closely with the Business Office on financial management, budgeting, and stewardship of endowment funds, gifts, and grants.
Ensure effective project planning, resource allocation, and administrative oversight across Institute programs.
Strategic Advancement
Serve as a key thought partner to the Managing Executive Director in shaping and implementing IEI’s long-term strategic vision.
Collaborate with the Institute’s leadership, faculty, and staff to define and execute goals that drive academic and operational excellence.
Strengthen integration with the broader Notre Dame community through strategic partnerships and collaboration with other university units.
Represent IEI across campus and externally, serving as a visible ambassador for its mission, programs, and impact.
Support faculty and staff professional development and foster a cohesive, mission-centered culture.
Financial Stewardship and Development
Partner with Notre Dame Development and the Institute’s Academic Advancement Director to advance fundraising strategies and stewardship efforts.
Cultivate relationships with benefactors, alumni, and partners to expand support for IEI’s programs and initiatives.
Translate the Institute’s innovative work into compelling narratives that inspire philanthropic investment.
Collaborate with senior leadership on donor engagement opportunities, funding priorities, and long-term sustainability strategies.

Education
Master’s degree in education, business, social sciences, or a related field required.
Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D., or other terminal degree preferred.
Experience
Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience in academic, nonprofit, or mission-driven settings.
Demonstrated success managing teams, budgets, and complex initiatives.
Proven ability to lead strategic planning, change management, and organizational development.
Strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Experience collaborating with advancement or development teams is strongly preferred.
Deep understanding of and commitment to the mission of Notre Dame and the Institute for Educational Initiatives, especially in advancing excellence in Catholic education.
