Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Senior Cyber Engineer
to join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Tech Center located onsite at Redstone Arsenal/Huntsville, AL.
The UAS Cyber Engineer will lead the hardware, software, and operating system hardening and documentation for UAS systems and associated subsystems.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform software and system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of commercial and government software for system development, scanning, and hardening
Conduct software application source, hardware component, and operating system scans to identify system vulnerabilities
Conduct system configuration changes to resolve system vulnerabilities including changes to Microsoft Windows and UNIX-based operating system configuration files
Conduct Cybersecurity vulnerability testing, full system evaluation, and documentation
Use STIGs, ACAS, NESSUS, and the NIST Risk Management Framework to prepare for and complete Security Control Assessment (SCA) events
Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security risks in hardware, software and external network boundary connections
Collaborate with system integrators, network engineers, software developers, and project managers to implement, maintain and monitor technical security controls, and harden information systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the DoD and outside government agencies to develop and integrate cybersecurity solutions and boundary protection
Develop robust integration solutions for diverse UAS enterprise services. This includes SATCOM (GEO/PLEO), networking, and audio solutions
Develop Cybersecurity engineering technical material including vulnerability assessment reports, architectural analysis reports, system security plan, security control traceability matrix, and cyber SOPs
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EDUCATION
BS degree and fourteen (14) years of related experience; four (4) years accepted in lieu of degree
REQUIRED SKILLS
Strong experience with Linux operating systems
Experience with system scanning, identification and resolution of vulnerabilities
Experience with industry Cyber tools including ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, and STIG Viewer
Experience with source code scanning utilities (e.g. Checkmarx, SonarQube, Fortify, etc.)
DESIRED SKILLS
Experience with Agile development workflow
Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls and the Authority To Operate (ATO) process
Experience with MBSE and Assurant modeling
Experience with system architecture, Cisco switches, and virtual machines
Experience with basic scripting in Bash and PowerShell
Experience with technical documentation writing
Experience with Virtualization software such as VMware or VirtualBox
REQUIRED CLEARANCE
Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION
Active CompTIA Security+ Certification
