Responsibilities
Interpret construction documents, specifications, and codes to design and layout compliant fire sprinkler systems. Apply NFPA standards and local building regulations to ensure safety, efficiency, and system performance. Develop detailed sprinkler system designs using AutoCAD or similar CAD platforms, coordinating layouts with other building trades. Perform hydraulic calculations and generate accurate material lists to support fabrication and installation. Prepare and submit design drawings, submittals, and documentation for permitting, fabrication, and construction. Conduct site surveys and field verifications to confirm design accuracy and resolve installation challenges. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and field teams to meet project deadlines and budget goals. Review and approve design documents, submittals, and shop drawings for accuracy, compliance, and constructability. Coordinate with fabrication teams to ensure timely material delivery and support smooth project execution. Maintain organized project records and documentation throughout all design and construction phases. Communicate effectively with field personnel to address on-site adjustments and design clarifications. Mentor and support junior designers, sharing technical knowledge and best practices. Assist sales teams with design input and technical estimates for new projects. Work independently with strong attention to detail, delivering high-quality, code-compliant designs on schedule. Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in drafting, engineering, or fire protection preferred. 3-5 years of experience in fire sprinkler design, layout, or hydraulic calculations. NICET Level II is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar fire sprinkler design software. Strong knowledge of NFPA and related codes and standards. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Solid math skills, including geometry and algebra. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented with strong time management and collaboration skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to job sites. Preferred Qualifications
NICET Level III is preferred. Familiarity with hydraulic calculation software and FM Global standards. Texas RME-G license or eligibility to obtain. Mechanical aptitude, professional demeanor, and commitment to customer satisfaction. Self-motivated with a desire for continued professional growth.
