Renewable Energy Innovation Project Engineer
Apex Systems is actively hiring for a Renewable Energy Innovation Project Engineer role with a Fortune 200 Renewable Energy client. This hybrid position is located in Juno Beach, FL.
Purpose: This contractor will primarily be responsible for engineering and project management for new renewable energy projects.
Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Possibility of overtime with permission. Travel 10%.
Length of Assignment: 12‑month contract with potential extension or conversion.
Responsibilities
Manage engineering projects from conceptual design through commissioning and implementation.
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to identify product improvements or cost reduction ideas.
Support implementation by providing technical input and project feasibility assessments.
Lead project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation activities.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project deliverables.
Develop and maintain project documentation, reports, and stakeholder communications.
Attend industry conferences and network with suppliers and vendors.
Provide input on process improvements and best practices for project delivery.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
3+ years of experience managing engineering projects from design to implementation.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional project teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
Strong project‑management fundamentals including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
Understanding of engineering design processes, technical specifications, and implementation challenges.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
A sense of ownership and accountability for project outcomes.
Intellectually curious and enthusiastic about problem solving and creative thinking.
Detail‑oriented with due diligence and research skills.
Comfortable with fast‑paced and constantly evolving environments.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects or other power‑generation systems.
Knowledge of project valuation methodologies and financial metrics (NPV, IRR, LCOE).
Understanding of utility‑scale energy project development.
Experience with data analysis and analytics.
Experience 3+ years of relatable professional experience in engineering, consulting, or project management.
