24-bed Intermediate Medical Unit (IMU) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Assignment Length:
13 weeks (August 4, 2025 – November 3, 2025)
Shift:
12-hour day shifts (7A-7P)
Hours per Week:
36
Weekend Requirement:
4 weekend shifts per schedule
Dress Code:
Royal blue scrubs
Electronic Medical Record:
Meditech EMR
Estimated Weekly Salary:
$1360 - $1460
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
At least 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intermediate Medical Unit (IMU)
Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
Proficient in administering and monitoring IV cardiac drips (Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Cardene, IV Insulin)
Skilled in basic ECG rhythm interpretation
Experience with continuous BiPAP and high-flow oxygen systems (e.g., Vapotherm)
Post-cardiovascular surgery patient management experience
Ability to float to Cardiovascular Telemetry (CVT), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and other med/surg units as needed
PCU RN Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care to PCU/IMU patients (1:4 or 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio)
Administer and monitor IV cardiac drips; manage acute cardiac, stroke, and respiratory cases
Interpret ECG rhythms and respond to changes in patient status
Manage patients on BiPAP and high-flow oxygen therapy
Deliver post-cardiovascular surgery care and monitor for complications
Perform procedures such as ultrasound IV insertion and paracentesis
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including nurses, patient care technicians (PCTs), and unit secretaries
Accurately document patient care and interventions in Meditech EMR
Float to other units (CVT, ICU, med/surg) as required
