Provide a short description of the Position: The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Bureau of Surveillance and Data Systems is charged to maintain and enhance the statewide Electronic Clinical Laboratory Reporting System (ECLRS), the Communicable Disease Electronic Surveillance System (CDESS), and the Electronic Syndromic Surveillance System (ESSS). These are mission critical electronic systems to effectively monitor and respond to over 75 reportable diseases and to other public health emergencies and inform statewide policy decisions. The expert software manager position will support coding change, enhancements and bug fixes to aforementioned DOH critical systems focusing on CDESS.
Provide a list of the day-to-day tasks to be performed by the Selected Candidate: • Oversee all CDESS HL7 and case notification projects • Manage tasks assigned to programmers within the project team. • Program in the full range of Java EE web technologies, configure and support files required for the development of CDESS vector surveillance system for mosquito, mammal, and tick; as well as COVID19 and Hepatitis related modules. • Participate in system design meetings, implement user requirements in the form of business rules, use cases and web page mockups. • Perform unit and regression testing scripts. • Provide system technical documentation. • Gather data migration rules and perform data migration.
