Job Title: Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer Profession: Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Weekend Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: NH MIRT Licensure Certifications: BLS, RDMS Must-Have: Candidates must have at least one year of experience with a wide array of exposure to various types of ultrasound. Candidates must have a good track record with past employers and positive references. Knowledge of anatomy and pathology with the ability to recognize normal from abnormal findings is required. Basic scanning skills with a good understanding of sonographic physics and techniques are necessary. Clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting is required, with some exposure to general, vascular, and OB-GYN sonography. Description: The unit has 4 ultrasound rooms and a total of 14 staff members. The staffing includes 4 sonographers on the day shift (plus a supervisor), 1 sonographer on the second shift after 7:30 PM, and 1 sonographer on the night shift. Patient ratios in an 8-hour shift range from 8 to 10 patients. Equipment used includes Siemens Acuson S200 and GE Logiq E10. The EMR system in use is Allscripts and PACS is InteleRad. The patient population ranges from pediatric to geriatric. Candidates with additional certifications such as RVT, OB-GYN, or AB will be given preference. Experience in the operating room and with ultrasound procedures is also preferred. Typical procedures performed in this unit include thoracentesis, paracentesis, fine needle aspirations of thyroids, parotids, and lymph nodes, as well as biopsies and drainages. Candidates should be hard-working, willing to learn, motivated self-starters, and fast learners. Compassionate patient care and teamwork skills are essential. The ability to teach, communicate with management appropriately, and adhere to departmental policies is required. The position may offer opportunities for extra shifts within the department. Dress code requires professional, clean scrubs or radiology-themed t-shirts. Attendance and PTO request policies must be followed, and all exam protocols need to be adhered to.
