Position Summary The Operational Excellence Manager will lead a small team focused on driving process improvement across the organization. This role is highly project-based, with 50–75% of time dedicated to executing short‑cycle improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader who thrives in fast‑paced environments and can quickly diagnose, document, redesign operational processes and track improvements post implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor small team of Process Analysts
Manage and execute operational improvement projects in sprints
Facilitate workshops, process mapping sessions, and stakeholder interviews to gather insights and drive alignment
Map and analyze the end‑to‑end journey to identify friction points and opportunities for enhancement.
Leverage data analysis and metrics to measure process performance and outcomes.
Develop process maps, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Collaborate with technology teams to recommend or implement automation and system improvements.
Design and implement optimized processes that balance efficiency, compliance, and client satisfaction.
Lead training and change management efforts to ensure team adoption of new processes.
Report on value realization post process improvement implementation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Previous managerial experience
5+ years of experience in process analysis, business analysis, or operations improvement (law firm or professional services experience a plus).
Proven experience managing short‑cycle projects with measurable outcomes.
Strong analytical skills with ability to gather, interpret, and present data.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Proficiency in process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Blueworks Live, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or higher)
Hands‑on experience applying either PDCA, Lean, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping in driving measurable results.
Project/Program Management certification is a plus
MBA is a plus
Physical Requirements
Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc. May occasionally ascend/descend the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess - The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
