Job Description L3Harris is seeking signal processing focused digital design and verification engineers to support our development of tactical communication products. The candidate will function in an FPGA developer/verification role, working in a cross‑functional team environment to design, verify and test modem/signal processing based FPGA firmware for radio communication systems. Successful candidates must have experience with RTL development using VHDL, as well as FPGA verification methodologies using SystemVerilog. Candidates will be required to analyze requirements, create FPGA specifications/development plans, create FPGA verification/test plans, code firmware designs in VHDL, code test benches in SystemVerilog, and verify designs meet requirements.

Essential Functions

Analyze system requirements and architect FPGA‑based processing solutions based on the latest FPGA digital technology.

Implement complex modem and/or DSP circuits in programmable logic using FPGA devices.

Apply broad embedded system design experience for communications systems.

Architect, implement, and verify complex algorithms in FPGAs and software.

Perform detailed analysis including requirements analysis, use case scenarios, conceptual design, trade studies, test, operation, and maintenance of radio communications products.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and refine design requirements and implement solutions.

Develop self‑checking test benches for FPGA design verification and validation using SystemVerilog.

Assist in development of high‑level and detailed verification test plans consistent with system requirements and specifications.

Prepare design and implementation reviews. Present technical briefings and status to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of relevant experience; Graduate Degree and minimum 7 years of relevant experience; in lieu of a degree, minimum 13 years of experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

Proficient in FPGA/ASIC development using VHDL or Verilog.

Proficient in FPGA/ASIC verification using SystemVerilog.

Experience with MATLAB, Simulink or similar DSP modeling tools.

Experience in communication system signal processing theory and waveform design.

Ability to analyze and debug FPGA firmware and related hardware issues.

Experience with vendor‑specific FPGA implementation tools (Vivado/Quartus/Libero).

Ability to work efficiently with remotely located teams.

Motivated, self‑starter who works well in team environments.

Solid technical writing skills and ability to communicate technical concepts/solutions both inside and outside the organization.

Experience/proficiency with TCL and Python scripting languages.

Experience working in a Linux based development environment.

Knowledge and experience in implementation and testing of MODEM RF designs.

Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).

Knowledge of vendor‑specific FPGA verification tools (Mentor Questa, Visualizer).

Salary In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $108,500 – $201,500.
