DeFelsko Corporation, a leading manufacturer of hand‑held inspection instruments for the coatings industry, is seeking a skilled Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team. The Electronics Engineer will support the production and automated testing of DeFelsko's high‑precision handheld electronic instruments. This role includes working closely with production technicians, developing and maintaining test fixtures and systems, and ensuring high product quality and throughput. Additionally, the engineer will assist design engineers in new product development and redesign of legacy products. A strong background in analog and digital circuit design, embedded systems, and software development is essential.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated test equipment (ATE) and fixtures for production line testing of electronic assemblies and finished instruments
Provide day‑to‑day engineering support for production teams to resolve electrical, software, or system‑level issues
Collaborate with design engineers on new product development, including prototyping, schematic capture, PCB layout review, and embedded firmware integration
Support redesign and improvement of legacy products for reliability, manufacturability, and component obsolescence
Develop and document test procedures, diagnostic tools, and calibration routines
Assist with regulatory compliance, including EMC, ESD, and safety testing
Work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams to support continuous improvement initiatives
Skills
Strong skills in analog and digital circuit design
Proficient in C/C++ and/or Java, with ability to develop or modify test software
Familiarity with test instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, DMMs, and data acquisition systems
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles
Familiarity with sensor technologies (Hall effect, ultrasonic, eddy current)
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Education/Experience
Bachelors degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 3 years of experience in a production or product development environment
Background in analog and digital circuit design, embedded systems, and software development required
Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller‑based design
Hands‑on experience with PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium)
Experience working in a small‑company environment with broad technical responsibilities
