A day in this role

You start by reviewing the CMMS for scheduled PMs and overnight work orders. You move to the floor to service injection molding and blow molding machines along with their auxiliary and facility systems. When production calls, you quickly diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic issues and perform effective repairs to minimize downtime. You handle setup and teardown, including tooling changes, then tune sensors and HMIs, and keep conveyors, robotics, and pick-and-place units operating in spec. Throughout the day, you collaborate with production to resolve issues, record accurate maintenance logs and parts usage, and keep your area clean, organized, and safe. When new equipment arrives, you assist with installation and commissioning. You also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on performance, safety, and reliability. As needed, you support an on-call rotation to respond to urgent breakdowns.

Core responsibilities

Execute preventive maintenance on injection and blow molding machinery, auxiliary equipment, and facility systems.

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems.

Perform machine setup/teardown and tooling changes.

Maintain and repair automation assets: conveyors, robotics, and pick-and-place units.

Partner with production to rapidly resolve equipment issues and reduce downtime.

Support installation and commissioning of new machines/equipment.

Document work orders, logs, and spare parts in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

Follow safety procedures; maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

Drive continuous improvement for equipment performance, safety, and reliability.

Provide 24/7 emergency breakdown support as needed (on-call rotation).

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing; plastics molding experience (injection and/or blow) .

Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and electrical schematics.

Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, HMIs, and related automation controls.

Proficient with diagnostic equipment and safe use of hand/power tools.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
