Job Description
The University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine, in partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Transplant Institute, is seeking a full-time academic pulmonologist specializing in Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), Lung Transplant. This faculty position is offered at an open rank Professor level and is part of the Center for Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Program, the only such center on Florida's West Coast, serving nearly 5 million people. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and transplant specialists. Responsibilities include comprehensive care for patients with advanced lung disease across the entire transplant continuum in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical duties will include pulmonary transplant evaluations, and ILD specialty care, as well as inpatient consults and outpatient clinics at TGH and affiliated sites.
As part of the academic faculty, the candidate will participate in multidisciplinary ICU rounds and be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Engagement in scholarly activities such as clinical research, quality improvement, and academic presentations is strongly encouraged. The position is a 12-month, salaried appointment and includes attending privileges at Tampa General Hospital and its affiliates. Candidates must hold a medical degree or equivalent, and be board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine. The role includes academic advising and may involve service to the university through committee work or representation at professional forums. The Lung Transplant Program is part of one of the largest and most comprehensive transplant institutes in the nation, offering a unique opportunity to grow within a nationally recognized center. Responsibilities
Clinical: Provides Critical Care and Pulmonary/ Interstitial Lung Diease Services for the Center for Advanced Lung Disease at TGH and/or other affiliated hospitals and clinics. Teaching: Participate in the USF fellowship program and be expected to develop didactic teaching sessions, grand rounds, clinical teaching of residents and students. Administrative: Serves as the Program Director for the Interstitial Lung Disease Program with the Center for Advance Lung Disease. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Preferred:
Must have experience in Interstitial Lung Disease. Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
MUST BE BOARD CERTIFIED/ELIGIBLE IN: Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care
