Director of Mission Advancement:
The Director of Mission Advancement serves as a key member of the YMCA of the Northern Sky's leadership team, advancing the Y's mission by leading, managing, and growing all aspects of annual giving, donor and volunteer engagement, special events, and grants. This role ensures the success of association-wide fundraising efforts by developing strong staff and volunteer teams, providing the necessary training and resources, cultivating community partnerships, and securing new funding opportunities to sustain and grow the YMCA's impact across our region.
Job Specific Competencies: Annual Giving & Campaign Leadership
• Provide visionary leadership and successful execution of all aspects of the YMCA's Annual Giving program in partnership with staff & board leadership.
• Recruit, train, inspire and retain a diverse network of volunteers to champion the Annual Giving campaign.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy by engaging staff at all levels as ambassadors, ensuring fundraising responsibilities are embraced as part of their role in advancing the mission. Donor Stewardship & Retention
• Ensure donor data with YMCA's CRM tools are maintained with highest levels of completeness and accuracy.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive donor stewardship strategy that strengthens relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation supporters.
• Partner with staff, volunteers, and branch leadership to provide consistent donor experiences across all touchpoints, fostering long-term loyalty and advocacy for the YMCA's mission. Special Events & Community Campaigns
• Lead and coordinate the Annual Paul Howry Memorial Golf Tournament in partnership with a volunteer planning committee, driving event strategy to ensure a sell-out field, year-over-year revenue growth, and expanded sponsorship support.
• Provide leadership and coordination to other special events that advance the mission of the YMCA. Grant Management & Development
• In collaboration with the VP of Financial Development, other VPs, Branch Directors and Program Directors, seek out and secure new grant funding for YMCA programs and services and oversee compliance and reporting.
Collaboration & Mission Advancement
• Build strong partnerships with community leaders, donors, and volunteers to advance the YMCA's mission.
• Engages volunteers to support programs throughout the YMCA association as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3-5 years of proven success in leading annual campaigns, securing grant funding and coordinating special events Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to lead and grow key programs and projects from start to finish Excellent customer service skills and general knowledge of fundraising best practices Benefits
