Laboratory Technician – INEOS Oxide INEOS Oxide, a business of the global chemical group INEOS, operates five manufacturing sites across Europe and North America. The role is based at the Bayport, US laboratory, where the technician supports quality assurance and process control for a broad range of specialty chemicals.

Purpose The Laboratory Technician reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and is responsible for safely providing accurate and timely sample results that support quality conformance, operational process control, customer requirements, troubleshooting, and improvement projects.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety/PPE rules and actively promote safety issues.

Understand and uphold the INEOS 20 Principles, Life Saving Rules, and cybersecurity training.

Perform routine and non‑routine testing to determine product quality status per specifications.

Support unit production or process control as per inline testing schedules.

Accurately input all data into the LIMS system.

Maintain laboratory cleanliness and housekeeping standards.

Apply statistical process control to laboratory test results.

Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on testing equipment.

Schedule work to meet priorities and execute tasks professionally.

Participate in safety or quality work teams and drive continuous improvement.

Support safety, environmental, and SHE initiatives through documentation and incident reporting.

Collaborate with the Operations, Environmental, and VPP teams to ensure compliance.

Actively promote quality goals and demonstrate attention to quality in job performance.

Work as part of a laboratory team to accomplish organizational goals.

Qualifications

High‑school diploma or GED; college‑level chemistry knowledge preferred.

Associate or bachelor’s degree in a STEM field preferred.

Minimum 2 years of industrial laboratory experience (chemicals, fuels, polymers).

Knowledge of laboratory analytical techniques and general laboratory best practices.

Computer skills: MS Office, LIMS system (Sample Manager, LabWare, or BLISS).

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and judgment skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Commitment to safety and adherence to INEOS Safety policies.

Safety and Operational Requirements

Safety commitment required; exposure to ethylene oxide. Must follow strict protocols.

Ability to work rotating shifts, including overnight, and overtime.

Lifting/sustained effort: Lift up to 50 lb, move containers up to 30 lb, walking 20 ft.

Work in temperature‑controlled environment; exposure to gases, fumes, dust, and cold.

Required use of respirator and gas mask as per safety rules.
