Coordinator Of Educational Outreach

The Coordinator of Educational Outreach for the Cohen Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies serves as the Institute's primary liaison to schools and educators across New Hampshire. As a skilled teacher-educator, this team member creates professional development opportunities to deepen teacher knowledge of content and best practices for Holocaust and genocide education. The Coordinator of Educational Outreach also creates open-access educational materials and works with partners on and off campus to meet the needs of teachers. This position falls within the collective bargaining unit for the Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA), an affiliate of the National Education Association of New Hampshire (NEA-NH). Duties/Responsibilities

Design and implement professional opportunities for middle and high school teachers across New Hampshire to deepen their content knowledge and teaching skills as related to Holocaust and genocide education. Collaborate with schools, districts, and teachers to assess local needs and brainstorm creative solutions to increase teacher support and access to training. Create interactive professional development workshops and trainings for educators with varying levels of content knowledge in multiple modalities. Work to support diverse classroom needs of educators and students. Travel to schools across New Hampshire to share resources and offer on-site support. Develop and implement a biannual Summer Institute for Educators held at Keene State College. Respond to inquiries from middle and high school teachers in a timely fashion and set up meetings or virtual "office hours" to discuss questions or concerns. Maintain relationships with and ongoing learning opportunities for teachers who have participated in past Cohen Institute offerings. Assess offerings using surveys and other tools to track immediate and longer-term impact. Work with Director on budgetary planning and maintenance as related to educational outreach work. Research and Curriculum Design

Develop open-access curriculum, sample lesson plans, LibGuides, and other materials relevant to the teaching of Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Create a core set of classroom presentations. Work with Director to identify areas for further development in line with the mission and values of the Institute and the College. Conduct scholarly research to guide the creation of materials. Adhere to the Cohen Institute's established peer-review system. Maintain up to date materials on the Institute's shared drive. Local/Regional/National Collaboration on Educational Initiatives

Foster and maintain additional partnerships that enhance the educational mission of the Institute. Represent the Institute at conferences and in other settings. Oversight and maintenance of a general educational outreach email account. Maintain and grow an up-to-date spreadsheet of contacts. Support Broader Institute Programs and Events

Assists Director and other Institute team members with the organizing and implementation of annual events. Design scaffolding programs for major events. Promote broader Institute programs. Serve as chair of the Hildebrandt Award committee and as a member of the Excellence in Teaching Award committee. Work with additional partners across campus to support the aims of educational outreach. Professional Development and Service

Attend professional development trainings. Be an engaged member of the campus community. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

Master's degree in a relevant field 2 years of relevant experience Required Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver's License and Safe Driving Record Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Master's degree in a relevant field and two years' relevant work experience Training in Holocaust and/or genocide studies and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development Master teacher with demonstrated success in curriculum development and assessment Experience creating and leading professional development opportunities for teachers Classroom teaching experience (ideally, at the middle or high school level) Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills, and organizational skills Able to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team Previous success managing multiple projects or tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines Competency in current computer technologies Ability to maintain confidentiality Experience working with diverse groups and stakeholders Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel for work Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years of relevant teaching experience Familiarity with different models for curriculum design Experience in a college/university work environment Ability to speak a second language Additional Information: Salary is commensurate with experience and complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
