Third-Party Medical Billing Specialist
to join their healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing and collections from third-party payers including private insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other government-funded programs. This role ensures accurate claim submission, timely reimbursement, and compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, prepare, and submit medical claims to third-party payers (insurance, Medicare, Medicaid).
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and appeal when necessary.
Post payments and reconcile accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal departments regarding claim status and billing inquiries.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, coding guidelines (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), and industry regulations (HIPAA, CMS).
Resolve billing issues and discrepancies quickly and efficiently.
Monitor accounts receivable reports and meet collection goals.
Document all billing activity and maintain detailed patient records.
Collaborate with providers and coding staff to ensure accurate claim submission. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred).
2+ years of experience in medical billing, preferably with third-party payers.
Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Kareo).
Strong understanding of insurance guidelines, coding systems (CPT, ICD-10), and billing regulations.
Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare reimbursement practices.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Certifications:
Certified Professional Biller (CPB)
Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or equivalent
Compensation:
$25 to $29 an hour Compensation is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
