Distribution & Logistics Center Manager
Grade Level: 15 (Exempt)
Reports To: Director of Manufacturing & Logistics Position Overview
The Distribution & Logistics Center Manager leads all operational, strategic, and continuous improvement activities for Palram's Kutztown logistics hub - a high-volume, multi-mode distribution and fulfillment center serving North American and global customers. This role oversees all inbound, outbound, export, and e-commerce fulfillment operations, managing a large-scale network that supports more than 550 monthly truck and container shipments and 5,000+ e-commerce orders. The Manager is accountable for optimizing warehouse performance, improving logistics processes, leading people development, and driving digital transformation within a fast-paced, customer-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Oversee daily operations across distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, export, and transportation logistics, ensuring on-time, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of customer orders. Manage inventory integrity, order accuracy, and warehouse layout for maximum throughput and safety. Lead implementation, use, and optimization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and integration with ERP (SAP) and other logistics platforms. Maintain effective control of inbound receiving, order processing, replenishment, and dispatch functions. Ensure all operations comply with ISO 9001, safety, and environmental standards. Strategic & Cross-Functional Alignment Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Transportation teams to align logistics execution with business objectives and customer demand. Forecast and plan warehouse capacity, labor, and equipment needs to support growth, seasonal peaks, and e-commerce expansion. Develop and manage the logistics budget, including labor, freight, and third-party service costs. Lead strategic initiatives to optimize storage density, improve delivery lead times, and reduce logistics costs. Continuous Improvement & Performance Management Drive a culture of operational excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles. Define and monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, inventory turns, cost per order, and productivity per labor hour. Identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and cost efficiency. Introduce digital tools, automation, and analytics to improve decision-making and transparency. Team Development & Leadership
Lead and develop a team of 4+ supervisors and their functional teams across multiple shifts. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and engagement, emphasizing employee growth and retention. Coach and evaluate team performance, providing continuous feedback and structured development plans. Ensure all employees receive training and maintain compliance with company, safety, and regulatory requirements. Safety, Quality, and Compliance
Ensure all operations adhere to OSHA, DOT, and Palram safety standards. Maintain a proactive safety culture - zero tolerance for unsafe practices. Oversee regular audits, training, and compliance with ISO 9001 and company policies. Manage documentation and resolution of discrepancies, damage reports, and quality issues. Qualifications & Experience 5 - 8 years of experience managing operations in a distribution, logistics, or fulfillment center environment, including e-commerce. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field (MBA preferred). Demonstrated success in leading high-volume, multi-channel shipping operations (LTL, TL, export, and parcel). Proven expertise in process optimization, WMS/ERP systems (SAP required), and logistics analytics. Strong understanding of supply chain principles, transportation management, and inventory control. Experience implementing Lean / Six Sigma methodologies preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
